The Church as a Resource

Page history last edited by Kalister Wynn 15 years, 1 month ago

The picture on slide 6 loads incorrectly... sorry about that:(

This presentaton focuses on 3 LDS Church documents that can be used as resources to teach essential life long principles in a modern world. It mainly stays in tune with the lessons taught in the 3 documents and can be applied to many different subject areas.

I loves the pictures in the presentation. I also really enjoyed slide six. I think way to often our students get into trouble because they get pulled into bad situations before they can realize it.

Good presentation! I really liked how you used the photographs as the backdrop rather than the typical slides. The pictures also related well to the quotes and I agree that we should be examples of the gospel for our students even though we can't directly teach it to them.

The pictures in this presentation are very applicable to the subject. I also like using the pictures as the background. The overall message is a little fuzzy--I'm not sure how I could incorporate the principles from the video in a classroom setting. I like the idea of taking your message from Church videos; I think we sometimes forget that videos are useful ways to teach the Gospel.

Overall great presentation, the pictures and format were great. I agree with the messages from each of the videos and it is important to make sure that we practice what we preach.

Great presentation. Although we can't 'preach' in the classroom, we can live our lives according to the values we have been taught. Children (or teenages) learn primary through example anyway.

I also really like that the message is drawn from church videos, I like that there are multiple forms of teaching within the church. What a great example of this. I think there is a typo on slide 8, but otherwise, well put together.

I liked the presentation, we should use the church as a resource because it gives us so many good examples of teaching. Some of the words were difficult to see because of light letters on a light background (slide 6).

I agree that the multiple examples from the Church are effective and applicable in teaching in a variety of ways. I am also a bit confused, however, on the focus or purpose of the presentation. The videos and "documents" did not seem to fit together in any way, and I don't think those specific examples could be used in a public classroom, although the principles taught therein definitely apply. Great formatting with the images!

Excellent presentation--I liked the visuals, the quotes, and the ideas expressed. I'm not sure that I'd be able to apply most of it directly to my future biology classes, but being the teacher of my children, it's certainly directly applicable.

Thank you for reminding us that the church uses a variety of media to educate people! As @Hammari pointed out, some of the words were difficult to see because of light letters on a light background. I also found it hart to read the words over some of the pictures. In PowerPoint, when you insert a pictures, you can recolor it so that it is a lighter color. When you pair the washed-out image with a dark type, it often makes it easier to read.

I also liked the presentation but found it a bit unfocused. For example, the quote about chastity didn't seem to fit in very well. I liked the pictures as backgrounds and I also liked how the presentation included more specific information than others.
