Developing Our Creative Gifts

Page history last edited by Olivia Seger 15 years, 1 month ago

Elder Hales has given us many suggestions for developing our creative gifts.  He has reminded us that everyone has spiritual gifts and that we must use them for righteous purposes instead of selfish ones.  He also has reminded us that we must be constantly striving to improve ourselves.  This presentation will highlight his suggestions from his talk Every Good Gift.

I like your input on each of the steps. The ties to teaching make a lot of sense and it was stated simply. Creativity seems to fall under the "with-it-ness" that teachers need in order to survive. I also liked how your pictures (except the yelling) had a sense of warmth to them. I think they added to the spirit of your message.

The presentation was very good. I enjoyed slide 9 because anyone can be creative if looking at things with curiosity. I thought it came to an abrupt ending, however. My only suggestion might be to include more of a concluding slide, instead of ending with the final harvesting point. The images were great, though.

I think this presentation summarized the talk wonderfully. As teachers, we need to be going through these steps constantly because our ideas effect our students' learning. I like the blue/gold color scheme--it's very striking against the pictures. I agree that the ending was a little abrupt, but the important points were all covered.

I also agree that it was very well done. Simple and easy to understand. The pictures fit the ideas very well. It's important to remember that there is a process is coming up with ideas and decisions. I liked it a lot.

I enjoyed this presentation. I appreciated that you put the link on the first slide because your presentation made me want to read the talk. This presentation reminds me of the law of consecration. The Lord will bless us with what we need to succeed in school. In return we should be willing to give our time, talents and resources to building up the kingdom. We can most definitely build the kingdom through our teaching profession.

I liked this presentation--it's a really important topic and I think it was summarized well in this slideshow. I did feel like slide 2 was a little chaotic looking at first glance, and I'm not sure how that could be changed...maybe pull the scripture up a line so that it's not so close to the bottom when everything else seems to have a nice margin, and maybe make the scripture reference a little smaller than the actual scripture. I don't know, that's just what I might play with to see if it would change the readability and initial visual appeal. Other than that, I really liked the pictures and the color scheme. Good job.

Thanks for the comments! I agree that slide two looks a little chaotic. I should have worked on that more. I didn't realize it cut off quickly, but now that you mention it I can see why it would seem that way. I'll remember that for next time.

@Olivia- I think you chose an excellent talk on which to base your presentation. You classmates' comments has already captured any advice I would give. Good job!

This presentation was very well done. I really like the last few slides because they summarized what was important but also made a comparison that many people can appreciate. The images added to the message as they showed simple representations the idea of each slide.

I think too many times we think we can get something with out any work. I loved the presentation because it is very relevant to the kids we will be teaching. Many of them have been raised that is they ask for something they will get it, with out any work. Only the first part of the presentation focused on work, but the rest was also very good. If we don't allow our student to be creative we are hurting them.

I agree with McKenzie. It is easy to feel discouraged about not succeeding at first try (or even at the twentieth try). Slide 2 could use some formatting, but overall this was a very well put together presentation.
